Pune: In a bid to maintain discipline and cleanliness within police offices, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde has issued a strict directive prohibiting the possession or consumption of gutkha, tobacco, alcohol, and cigarettes by police personnel while in uniform or on office premises.
Immediate Disciplinary Action and Fine
As per the directive, any officer or staff member found using or carrying these substances while in uniform or on duty will face immediate disciplinary action and a fine of ₹5,000.
The order specifically targets the issue of spitting in prohibited areas, including office walls, bathrooms, and premises, which has been a common problem. This move aims to improve hygiene standards and maintain the decorum of the police force, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for such behaviors.
Alcohol Use to Lead to Suspension
In addition to the tobacco-related rules, the order states that any personnel found under the influence of alcohol while in uniform or on duty will face immediate suspension along with stringent disciplinary measures.
Awareness Campaign in Police Stations
To ensure compliance, the directive mandates that the order be read aloud during daily roll calls for the next five days. The instructions must also be displayed prominently on notice boards at police stations and shared in official WhatsApp groups to inform all personnel.
