Pune: The Maharashtra government has issued a new Government Resolution (GR), which mentions that November 7 would be celebrated as Students’ Day in the schools across the State in the memory of Father of the Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

“On this day in 1900, Ambedkar first joined school,” said Suvarna Kharat, Joint Secretary, Education.

The day would be celebrated with activities like elocution competition, essay-writing competition, poetry recitation, etc, based on the life of Dr Ambedkar. “He was the lighthouse of education and to acquaint today’s students with his dedication and hard work, we have decided to celebrate this day in his memory,” Kharat added.
