Pune: The City Police Crime Branch has received about 1,000 complaints from depositors against builder DS Kulkarni after a cheating case was registered against him and his wife.
Meanwhile, the police have written to the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) to inform them before registration of any land owned by DSK Group.
The police suspect that the land may be disposed of. According to officials, the current value of cheated amount is about Rs 30 crore.
On October 28, the Pune police registered a case against Deepak Sakharam Kulkarni (68), Director of the DSK Group and his wife Hemanti (58). The couple has interim protection from arrest till Tuesday, as per order of a local court. In his anticipatory bail application, Kulkarni claimed that all depositors will get a refund by March 2018.
Jitendra Narayan Mulekar (65) of Kothrud lodged an FIR against the couple with Shivajinagar police station. The police have charged him with offences under Indian Penal Code, Maharashtra Protection Of Interest of Depositors Act and Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is investigating the case.
