Pune: The Pune police has appealed to all girls and women working in government, private sector and those travelling late night in the city can call helpline number 1091 for any help during their commute.
The Pune Police issued a press release stating, “Police stations in Pune city have been instructed to make availability of government vehicles for the safety of women especially for those who travel during night for the work.
The statement also said that the many women, girls work during night while many also travel in the city. The city has witnessed unfortunate incidents against women in past few months. To avoid them the helpline is made available to women.
The police also said that if any women dial the helpline number 1091, the police beat marshall will reach on the spot in no time to assist the troubled individuals. Government vehicles will be used to ensure that women reach their home safely. In case women are travelling via a cab or an autorickshaw, the senior police inspectors and other police personnel should also jot down the vehicle number and take essential safety with regards to the safety of the commuter.
