Pune: Following pleas from developers across the State to extend the deadline for registration of ongoing projects, MahaRERA Chairman Gautam Chatterjee told Sakal Times that they have not closed window for registration and soon MahaRERA will announce its decision on what positive stand can be taken in case of developers who have failed to register before the deadline. Chatterjee told Sakal Times, “We have not closed the window for applications for ongoing projects.”
“MahaRERA will soon decide on how to deal with such applications which have come after the deadline,” he added.
Chatterjee, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Chairman said till July 31 midnight, applications were filed regarding 11,000 projects and 7,500 agents applied for registration under RERA.
Speaking about the maximum projects getting registered in Pune Metropolitan Region, PMRDA Chief Kiran Gitte said that PMRDA has 7,256 sq km area under its jurisdiction which is more than the area under Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority which has area of 4,300 sq kilometres.
Gitte said unlike Mumbai city and suburbs, Pune has maximum number of medium developers who have applied for RERA registration. Gitte said that to facilitate smaller and medium level builders to understand the requirement for registration, PMRDA conducted a workshop on June 10 and had worked to solve the queries of developers to fulfill paperwork. He said, “We believe our efforts too helped in ensuring that smaller and medium level builders apply for RERA registration.”
A day earlier, Shantilal Kataria, President of Credai Maharashtra had raised the issue that the developers from smaller town were facing hurdles in online submission and online payment. Kataria had urged the government to extend the deadline as developers were facing problems in getting CA certificates before the deadline.
Reacting on Chatterjee’s statement on Tuesday, Kataria said that no formal announcement has been made regarding granting extension for registration of ongoing projects as yet. He told Sakal Times, the developers are worried about the fine amount that MahaRERA had announced that it would take suo motto action against developers missing registration deadline.
The developers across the State were asked to register the ongoing projects under Maharashtra Real Estate (Regulatory and Development) Act (RERA), the deadline for which ended at midnight on July 31.
