The Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday has left families across the country grieving. Among the 265 people who died in the tragic accident was Irfan Sameer Shaikh, a 22-year-old cabin crew member from Sant Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune.
Irfan had been working in the aviation industry for the past two years. He first joined Vistara Airlines and later became part of Air India after the merger. Recently, he had started flying on international routes and was considered dedicated and hardworking by his family and colleagues.
“He had come home for Bakri Eid just a few days back. After spending two days with us, he returned to work. We had no idea that would be our last time with him,” said Irfan’s uncle, Firoz Shaikh.
Irfan’s family remembers him as cheerful and kind-hearted. He stayed connected with his parents daily, no matter where he was flying. His sudden passing has left his family and friends deeply saddened.
After the accident, Irfan’s parents and elder brother travelled to Ahmedabad. A DNA test is being conducted to confirm his identity, and the family hopes to receive the body soon so that the last rites can be performed at the earliest.
Irfan’s family includes his grandparents, parents, and elder brother. All are in mourning as they wait for closure.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, and the administration has assured full support to the families affected.
