Air travellers face woes

PUNE: As people have begun cancelling their domestic flights and tours scheduled for March and April because of COVID-19, they are struggling to get refunds against the cancellations from airlines. Many airlines are advising their customers to reschedule instead of cancelling their tickets.

“I had booked two tickets with different airlines. While I got a full refund for flight cancellation by an airline, the other one allowed us to reschedule the flight just by paying the fare difference,” said IT professional Pamel Kaur.

Several airlines have been providing the option of rescheduling the flights up to five months. Those who have booked flights through agencies are facing problems as they are not able to connect with the customer care officials of these companies.

“I successfully managed to contact the customer care of the airlines and got a 100 per cent refund too. However, that happened only after I waited for over 30 minutes as the customer care personnel looked into the issue. Patience is the key here,” said teacher Vidula Saraf.
