Pune, 27 October 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the Alandi Municipal Council to complete all road repairs in the town before Kartiki Ekadashi next month, when thousands of warkaris will arrive for the annual pilgrimage.

During his visit to Alandi on Sunday, Shinde announced an grant of ₹1 crore from the Urban Development Department to repair potholes and improve road conditions. He instructed civic officials to complete the work as early as possible and provide photographic proof once all repairs are done.

The deputy CM also laid the foundation stone for Bhakta Nivas, a new lodging facility for pilgrims visiting the revered Sant Dnyaneshwar temple. Earlier this year, the government had allocated ₹20 crore for the project following Shinde’s previous visit.

Along with this, he inaugurated several beautification projects along the Alandi ghat area to enhance the experience of devotees during the wari procession.

Speaking about the long-standing issue of river pollution, Shinde said the state government has resolved to make the Indrayani River clean and pollution-free. A detailed project report is being prepared, and sewage treatment plants will be set up along the river to ensure devotees can take a holy dip safely in the future.

Officials from the Alandi Municipal Council are expected to finish the repair work well before the Kartiki Ekadashi, which draws lakhs of devotees from across Maharashtra every year.
