Pune, 5th September 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Bajaj Finserv’s proposed headquarters in Mundhwa.
Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said, "The Bajaj Finserv headquarters being developed in Pune will give a new direction to the city's growth. Around 40,000 people in Pune and the surrounding region are expected to get employment opportunities through this project."
He added, "The government is committed to developing Pune as a modern city with fast and efficient mobility and is working to build the infrastructure needed to support the city's rapid growth."
Fadnavis said, "Pune and Mumbai have become major fintech centres in the country. Mumbai accounts for 61% of total fintech investment, while fintech startups have also seen significant growth."
He added that the fintech ecosystem should be expanded to other Maharashtra cities, including Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur.
Fadnavis said, "Over the next three to four years, we want Pune to be recognised as a city with a fast and efficient transport system."
He said the government is working on infrastructure projects including an outer ring road, inner ring road and underground routes to improve connectivity and address the city's growing traffic problems.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar said, "Bajaj Finserv's campus will further strengthen Pune's knowledge-based economy. The company has signed a ₹6,000 crore memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government, which will support investment and the financial services sector."
She added, "The investment will create new opportunities for employment and skill development for young people in Pune, particularly in emerging sectors."
Bajaj Finserv Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Bajaj spoke about the proposed headquarters and its plans at the event. Bajaj Finserv CSR Chairperson Shefali Bajaj, Bajaj Finance Vice Chairman Rajiv Jain and senior state and civic officials were also present.
