Pune, 28th May 2026: Nearly 4000 police personnel deployed in the city by Pune Police to maintain law and order during Bakri Eid celebrations on Thursday. Special security arrangements have been made in sensitive areas and around the main Eidgah grounds to ensure peaceful celebrations.
Large gatherings are expected at mosques and Eidgah grounds across the city, with the main congregational prayers scheduled at the Eidgah ground near Golibar Maidan in the Cantonment area. Police have intensified security and traffic management measures to avoid inconvenience to citizens and maintain smooth movement in busy areas.
Apart from the regular police force, units of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), riot control teams, and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have also been deployed. Crime Branch teams in plain clothes will remain stationed at crowded locations to prevent any untoward incidents.
Police are also keeping a close watch on anti-social elements and rumours circulating on social media platforms. Cyber police teams have been instructed to monitor online activity to prevent the spread of misinformation.
“Citizens should celebrate the festival peacefully and avoid believing or spreading rumours. Commuters are requested to cooperate with the administration and follow traffic diversions to avoid congestion in key areas of the city,” said Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
