Changes in traffic flow at Bhumkar Chowk

Changes in traffic flow at Bhumkar Chowk

Pune: Following the changes in traffic flow at  Shivaji Chowk in Hinjawadi and Bhujbal Chowk in Wakad, officials of the traffic division have now implemented changes at Bhumkar Chowk to regulate the traffic chaos. It must be noted that Bhumkar Chowk has a narrow underpass which makes two-way traffic flow difficult and is also a bottleneck for people working in Hinjawadi.

The implementations are carried out by Hinjawadi traffic division as suggested by Additional Commissioner of Police Makrand Ranade.  As per the traffic police, vehicles heading from Dange Chowk towards Bhumkar Chowk cannot take a right turn at Bhumkar Chowk and will have to take a U-turn at Marunji Y Junction to reach their destination.

Similarly, vehicles heading from Hinjawadi towards Dange Chowk cannot take a right turn at Bhumkar Chowk and so will have to take a U-turn at Kala Khadak Chowk. No vehicles will be allowed from Shani Temple towards Bhumkar Chowk and no vehicles will be allowed from Sayaji Chowk towards Bhumkar Chowk. While commuters will have to add extra distance to their journey, vehicles will not have to wait to cross Bhumkar Chowk.

People can submit their suggestions and objections at Additional Commissioner of Police Makrand Ranade’s office near Autocluster, Science park in Pimpri. The implementation will be done from September 17 till 26.
