City students send 3,600 sanitary napkins to Malawi

PUNE: As many as 3,600 sanitary pads were contributed by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education (MCE) Society’s Abeda Inamdar Senior College to Malawi, an African country on Wednesday.

The napkins were sent to support the girls of Malawi, an underdeveloped country in the southern region of Africa. It aimed at bringing those girls back to school.

The students of Azam Campus in collaboration with an international NGO – Global Futures Network collected the sanitary napkins.

The programme was presided over by United Nation’s Officer Nehaal Mayur. Principal Shaila Bootwala, Programme Officers Mansura Mulani, Shabana Shaikh, Rahul More and other coordinators were present during the event.

Mayur had an interactive session with the students to sensitise them about the social challenges and how to stand up for their rights.
