Pune, 16th June 2026: Vehicle owners and households in Pune and surrounding areas will face higher fuel costs as Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has increased the prices of both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG).
Under the revised rates, CNG will now cost ₹95.75 per kg, up by ₹1 per kg, while PNG used for domestic purposes will cost ₹51.50 per standard cubic meter (SCM), an increase of ₹0.85. The new prices will come into effect from today.
The price hike will apply across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon, and Hinjawadi. MNGL said the increase was necessary because of higher natural gas procurement costs.
Despite the revision, the company stated that CNG remains a more economical fuel compared to petrol and diesel. According to current estimates, CNG users can save around 47% on fuel expenses compared to petrol and about 25% compared to diesel. Auto-rickshaw drivers are also expected to save nearly 25% on operating costs by continuing to use CNG.
