Pune: A manager of Bank of Maharashtra’s (BoM) Kondhwa branch has been booked for allegedly transferring Rs 30.93 lakh through 73 entries from interest on term deposit.
Based on a complaint by senior manager Sanjiv Narkhede, an FIR has been registered with Kondhwa police station against Shaliwahan Mukund Solegaonkar. He has been charged for offences under sections 409 and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to police, the incident took place between January 17 to May 10 this year. The accused used passwords of other officers for transferring the amount to a saving account with the bank’s Sahakarnagar branch. Later, the accused had withdrawn the amount. After the fraud came to light, a case was registered against Salegaonkar. Police Sub Inspector KK Kamble is further investigating the case.
