
Pune: A pervert on the prowl sent lewd messages over a period of one-and-a-half-months to a woman and later blackmailed her to extort money from her.
The police suspect that he might be sending such messages to several other women in the city. A case in this regard has been registered against the accused at Khadak police station after the woman approached them on Tuesday.
The accused identified himself as Rahul Kulkarni alias Sandip Kolekar. He obtained her mobile number from a hoarding outside her beauty parlour. He contacted her stating that he runs an Ayurvedic massage centre with a big clientele and would like do a partnership with her as he is unable to handle all his clients. The complainant replied she will get back to him.
According to the police complaint, the accused contacted her many times about the offer and invited her to his office near City Pride multiplex on Satara Road. On the night of November 9, he sent a WhatsApp message from a different number to her to inquire about the business proposal and then started sending her obscene pictures. He continued doing so despite her objections, which forced her to block the number.
Police Inspector Sambhaji Shirke of Khadak police station, said, “When the complainant blocked the phone number of accused, he called her up on November 10 and apologised. He said his real name is Sagar Kolekar and he is a resident of Kolhapur. He is a divorcee and his parents died a year back. He played the emotional card after which the woman unblocked his number. However, the pervert continued sending lewd messages to her.”
The accused continued his obscene behaviour. When she threatened to file a police complaint, he threatened to throw used condoms outside her parlour and demanded Rs 10,000 from her. So, she blocked his number again on November 13. The complainant informed the incident to her husband and they approached the police on Tuesday. Shirke said, “We have registered a criminal case against the accused and will nab him soon.”
The accused has been booked under section 354A (Sexual Harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 354D (Stalking) and IT Act.
