Coronavirus Pune: 12 new cases reported in last 12 hours, tally over 4,572

Pune: As many as 12 new cases were found positive of coronavirus in last 12 hours across the Pune district taking the toll number of positive cases to 4572. Meanwhile, the total death count so far has been 235 in the district," said District Health Officer (DHO). Until Wednesday 9 pm, total positive cases of COVID in Pune district were 4544.

Officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday said that 152 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the city on Wednesday taking the total number of COVID-19 positive patients in the city till date to 3,899. Officials said that 14 COVID-19 positive patients died on Wednesday taking the total death count in the city due to COVID-19 to 221.

As per the data by PMC there were 1,656 active cases in the city. The deaths of the COVID-19 patients include people in the age group of 37 years to 8O years. The deaths include that of 11 males and 3 females.

Regarding Pune division, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar said the total count of positive patients in Pune division has reached 5,347. In all 2,475 positive patients were discharged from hospitals after full recovery.

“Currently there are 2,607 active patients in the district and 265 persons have lost their lives due to COVID-19. There are around 187 critical patients of COVID-19 and we have kept them under observation,” said Mhasiekar.

As per the State Health Department, the total count of COVID-19 positive patients in the State has reached 39,297 of which 27,581 are active cases. In all, 679 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged in the State on Wednesday after recovery. As per the data shared by the Health Department 2,250 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the State on Wednesday. Officials said that 65 deaths were reported among COVID-19 patients on Wednesday taking the total in the State due to COVID-19 to 1,390.

Out of the 65 deaths, 41 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, and others in Pune, Navi Mumbai, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Ulhasnagar and Aurangabad city. Out of the 65 deaths, 46 were men and 19 women. 32 of them were aged over 60 years, 31 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 2 were aged less than 40 years. 48 out of 65 patients (74 per cent) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and others.
