Coronavirus Pune: Survey of 11.43 lakh citizens reveals 345 COVID-19 positive cases

Pune: While the number of cases in Pune city is rising every day, the district administration has taken proactive measures to restrict the coronavirus spread in smaller towns and villages in the rural parts of the district. Health officials have traced 345 COVID-19 positive cases from 11.43 lakh citizens surveyed in the district and the Special Corona Control Cell has made 37 thousand calls for coordination so far.

A special squad is also surveying minimum of 50 to 100 houses every day in the district and information about co-morbid patients is being recorded. This survey is going on 141 Gram Panchayats and 11 municipal councils. In this survey, 2,699 high-risk and 4,914 low-risk patients were identified. Symptomatic patients are checked by a medical officer and they are under observation for 14 days. The co-morbid patient survey has revealed that the district has 6.28 lakh persons above the age of 60 years and 2.9 lakh patients with comorbidities.

The number of COVID-19  cases in the Pune district has increased ever since movement began after the lockdown restrictions were relaxed. Many of those who were working in Mumbai and Pune city have returned to their native places in the district. The total number of cases reported in Pune district till June 26 is 911, out of which 537 have recovered, and 340 cases are still active. 34 deaths have been reported. Recovery rate is 62.63 per cent and the infection-mortality ratio is at 4.06 per cent in the district.

The district administration has put up 20 checkpoints in the district where every citizen is checked for symptoms of Covid-19 and his entry is made in a register. A total of 20 lakh citizens have been checked at these points so far.

Apart from these checks, the district administration has completed 'Asha Survey' of 9.34 lakh families. Over 2.89 lakh citizens have visited fever clinics in which 11,206 citizens were identified having fever, cold and cough.
