COVID-19: Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad continues to bear the brunt

Pune: Pune, the epicentre of the coronavirus reported 1,700 new cases on Sunday while 38 people succumbed to the novel virus. On the positive front, 1,545 patients were discharged from the various hospitals in the city. Total 6,067 swab samples were collected for COVID tests on COVID-19.

According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the total number of COVID-19 cases in the city now stands at 1,31,781. From the total cases, 110,916 have been cured while 3084 have lost their lives. There are still 17,781 active patients in the city who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. There are 961 critical patients of which 494 are on ventilator support.

Also, the Pimpri-Chinchwad which recently passed the mark of 70,000 cases continuous to witness spike in COVID-19 cases. According to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) 749 fresh cases were reported on Sunday. Also, 1,151 people were discharged from hospitals.

With this, the tally of COVID-19 cases here now stands at 70,172 out of which 59,968 have recovered while 1,142 have lost their lives. There are 5,375 active patients who are still undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, 26,408 patients were discharged from the hospitals in Maharashtra as the state reported 20,598 new cases on Sunday. 455 people lost their lives amid COVID-19 in the state, this has taken the state’s fatality to 2.7 per cent. The current count of COVID19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 12,08,642 informed the Health Ministry.
