COVID-19: Pune records highest number of deaths in a single day

Pune: In a shocking incident, 22 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in Pune district and 300 new patients have been tested positive. The total death in Pune district now reaches 372.

Pune has been badly hit by the contagion with cases surging from March. On Tuesday, Pune district reported the highest deaths till date. On the other side, around 173 patients were cured and discharged from the hospitals.

In the total 22 deaths reported, the age of death patients are between 40-year-old to 86-year-old. 13 people succumbed to death in private hospitals while others deaths were reported from Sassoon General Hospital and Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital.

The patients who died were from the containment zones such as Janata Wasahat, Model colony, Mangalwar Peth,  Hadapsar, Rasta Peth, Shivajinagar, Gultekdi, Ganesh Peth, Yerwada, Health camp, Kondhwa, Chinchwad, Tadiwala road, Dapodi and Walekarwadi. 

The city reported 266 new cases on Tuesday whereas 34 were tested positive from Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

There are 6,795 positive cases in PMC, out of which 4,119 patients have been cured and discharged.
