CrowdStrike accelerates growth in India

PUNE: CrowdStrike, a leading provider of cloud-delivered endpoint protection solution, on Tuesday launched its new Innovation and Development Centre at Kharadi World Trade Centre in the city. The company also appointed Jagdish Mahapatra as the managing director Asia region (India, South East Asia and North Asia). The launch also marks the company’s expansion in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

Speaking at the launch event, Mahapatra said that cyber threats are evolving and the number of reported breach incidents are also large in numbers which make it essential for companies to change their strategies. “The average breakout time (time taken for an attacker to begin moving laterally outside of the initial beachhead to other systems in the network) is around 1 hour and 58 minutes. Which means we have less than two hours of time before the damage is already done by the attacker,” added Mahapatra.

He explained that to tackle security threats there is a need for technology, people for necessary skillset, defined process and CrowdStrike is well equipped with all three.

Mahapatra said that as the solutions are cloud driven it takes away the burden of operations and installations from the client which adds value and saves cost for the client.

Chief Product Officer Amol Kulkarni said that CrowdStrike has about nine innovative products which are delivered through a single lightweight agent which is of size about 5mb. “CrowdStrike Falcon’s modular approach enables customers to have integrated access to the full suite of endpoint protection capabilities, including vulnerability management, IT hygiene, threat intelligence automation, device control, and more,” added Kulkarni.

Speaking on the compatibility of the product with other applications, Kulkarni said that the company works on different platforms and applications and is perfectly compatible with most of the applications.

“Integrating threat intelligence helps us automating incident investigations and speeding breach response. While the company is interested in detecting the threats and breaches it is not limited to it. We go way ahead and do a malware analysis so that the security experts of the clients are able to strengthen their defenses,” added Kulkarni.

Kulkarni further said that the company uses its own products for providing cyber safety solutions to the client and is not dependent on any third party applications.

INDUSTRY-ACADEMIA TIE UP
The company has tied up with College of Engineering, Pune and Savitribai Phule Pune University to offer cyber education and internship opportunities.
