PUNE: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ on Saturday lay centred at 120 km north-northwest of Dhaka in Bangladesh and 200 km south-southwest of Dhubri (Assam). It is very likely to move north-eastwards and weaken further into a well-marked low-pressure area till May 5 morning.
IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim region till May 5.
In other parts of the country, till May 8, IMD has predicted heatwave conditions at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, south Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan.
STATE SCENARIO
In Maharashtra, heatwave conditions were observed in parts of Vidarbha on Saturday with many cities reporting above 40 degrees Celsius day temperatures. According to the Met department, the highest temperature reported in the State on Saturday was 45.5 degrees Celsius at Bramhapuri.
According to the IMD, the heatwave-like situation will continue till May 8.
PUNE SCENARIO
The city in the past few days experienced a pleasant drop in day temperature, however, according to the weather experts, the temperature is set to rise again. On Saturday, Pune reported a day temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and a night temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius.
IMD has predicted that in the coming week, the day temperature will steadily rise up to 39 degrees Celsius. There will also be a slight increase in night temperature from 21 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius till May 10 with clear skies throughout.
