Pune: Many patients cannot afford costly branded medicines prescribed for common or chronic diseases, an issue that can be addressed by use of generic medicines which cost 60-70 per cent less.
This was revealed by Dr Rashmi Tambe of Dava India, a Zota Pharmaceutical initiative, during the media interaction at Patrakar Bhavan on Wednesday.
Kedar Joshi, Regional Manager of Dava India, added that 3,000 generic medicine shops will be opened across India by March 2020.
“The cost benefits will bring major relief to not only the low income groups but also to the elderly pensioners. Generic medicine is the future and the firm insistence of the customers, will drive its popularity and growth,” Joshi said.
