Pune, 12th August 2026: Passengers travelling from Delhi to Pune on a SpiceJet flight reportedly faced an uncomfortable and distressing situation before take-off. The aircraft was carrying children, elderly passengers and other travellers when the cabin temperature suddenly began rising.
According to passengers, the heat became unbearable as the aircraft remained on the ground. Several passengers were reportedly drenched in sweat, while some complained of difficulty breathing.
Despite the conditions inside the aircraft, the flight was reportedly moved towards the runway. Passengers then raised objections and refused to allow the aircraft to take off, saying it was unsafe to fly in such conditions.
Passengers alleged that the captain and other personnel tried to calm them down in an aggressive manner and that some were even threatened when they protested.
The situation became more serious after a technical problem with the aircraft was reportedly identified. This raised further concerns among passengers about why the aircraft had been taken towards the runway despite the problems inside the cabin.
The passengers have expressed anger over what they described as poor service and a serious lapse in passenger safety.
Following the incident, several passengers reportedly remained at the airport and staged a protest. They demanded accountability from SpiceJet and questioned how passengers, including children and elderly people, were allowed to remain inside an aircraft in such uncomfortable conditions.
Passengers have also urged the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to take serious note of the incident and investigate the airline's handling of the situation. They have demanded strict action if any safety or operational violations are found.
The incident has raised concerns over passenger safety, aircraft maintenance and the handling of technical problems before take-off. SpiceJet's response to the allegations and details of the reported technical fault are awaited.
