PUNE: Veteran orthopaedic surgeon Dr KH Sancheti was felicitated with Punyabhushan award 2017 from Tridal by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Shrinivas Patil, Governor of Sikkim. The event was held on Sunday at Balgandharva Rangmandir.
Gadkari congratulated Dr Raghunath Mashelkar for choosing the right person for the prestigious award. “Dr Sancheti is not just a good doctor, but also a sensitive human being. All people earn money, but it is also important to have a sense of social responsibility. Dr Sancheti is the person who has given back to the society,” Gadkari added.
Sancheti said that although he has received several awards, he cherishes this award as the happiness of receiving an award in your own home is something else altogether.
“I have grown up in Pune and all the success that I have achieved is because of the love Puneites gave me. Many great people like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, PL Deshpande, etc. have been felicitated with this award and I am happy to be a part of the Punyabhushan family,” Dr Sancheti added.
He said that along with working towards your family and work, those who do something for the society are more satisfied in their life. Guardian Minister Girish Bapat, Mayor Mukta Tilak, Chairman and Managing Director at Sakal Papers Pvt Ltd Pratap Pawar, former cricketer Chandu Borde were present too.
