Draft DP for Yewalewadi sparks political row

Draft DP for Yewalewadi sparks political row

Pune: The draft development plan prepared for the newly merged Yewalewadi village in PMC has sparked a political row between BJP MLA Yogesh Tilekar and his opponents from other political parties.

The landowners in Yewalewadi, who contested PMC elections during February this year from Kondhwa-Yewalewadi against Tilekar’s mother Ranjana, alleged that Tilekars are using their political clout to interfere in the draft DP to put reservations on opponents’ land deliberately. BJP worker Kishor Kamthe, the bete noire of Tilekar, also smelled a rat.

Gangadhar Badhe, who contested the civic elections from Kondhwa-Yewalewadi against Ranjana Tilekar, has alleged that he gave a tough fight to Ranjana Tilekar but lost by a few votes, so he was targetted by putting reservations on his more than 18-acre land. “Yewalewadi village already has a crematorium but just to target me, the reservation of one more crematorium has been marked on my land,” Badhe said.

“I contested the civic elections on Shiv Sena ticket against Ranjana Tilekar and lost by only 334 votes, so, fearing a strong opposition from my side in the future, Yogesh Tilekar tried political sabotage,” Badhe said.

A reservation for a garbage plant has been put on 16 acres of land, for the economically weaker section on two acres of land and a crematorium on 25 acres of land. But Tilekar managed to save their own land from reservations, Badhe said. “We will bring this to the notice of the committee to be formed for conducting suggestions and objections on the draft DP for Yewalewadi,” he added.

Vilas Kamthe, who contested on MNS ticket, said that the total population of Yewalewadi village is around 8,000 and the population of Muslims is meagre, so there is no need of one more crematorium. Tilekar made an attempt to put a reservation on my land. “I have five acres of land, out of which the reservation for a burial ground was put on 61 gunthas, without considering the actual projected Muslim population in the area,” he told Sakal Times.

Interestingly, BJP worker Kishor Kamthe said, “The reservation for a market on my 10 guntha land seems fishy as the surrounding open space owned by traders has been left out and I was made a target for having differences with Tilekars.”

However, when contacted, Yogesh Tilekar, who is on Kerala tour, refuted all the allegations and said that he himself has a reservation of garbage depot on his four-acre land in Yewalewadi. “When the civic administration put a reservation of garbage processing plant on my land, which I owned jointly with my partner, and the city improvement committee, headed by the BJP, proposed to delete it, I myself told my mother to keep the reservation as it is in public interest,” Tilekar said.

“Even when the DP for 23 merged villages was prepared in 2005, reservations of police station and school were put on my 70 guntha land in Kondhwa but I did not object to it. The allegations have been made by my opponents just to malign my image,” he said.
