Everyone should come forward to donate plasma: Police Commissioner Dr K. Venkatesh

Pune: The number of coronavirus patients are increasing in rural areas as well as in the city. Every patient who has fully recovered from the virus, should come forward to donate plasma, appealed Commissioner of Police Dr K. Venkatesh.

Plasmadatta Gaurav program was held recently at Pune City Police Commissioner's Office. Commissioner Dr K. Venkatesh was talking at the time. He along with Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and order) Dr Ravindra Shiswe, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mitesh Ghatte were present.

Commissioner of Police Dr K. Venkatesh said, "In order to reduce the number of coronavirus patients, those who want to donate plasma should register on the website http://puneplasma.in provided by the Pune City Police Commissioner's Office or by sending a message to Assistant Police Inspector Shintre mobile number 9960530329." 

"Deputy Commissioner of Police Mitesh Ghatte has created this great platform. Patients who have fully recovered from the virus should donate plasma. We appeal to more people to come ahead. We have implemented this initiative to give those who need plasma. It can save someone's life," he added.

Plasma donors Karan Ranadive, Mohim Nalawade, Rahul Tupe, Vaibhav Lodha, Ajay Munot, Rahul Langar, Jamir Sheikh, Avadhut Divate, Vaibhav Bhakan, Kunal Todi and Mohit Todi were felicitated by Commissioner of Police Dr Venkatesh.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and order) Ravindra Shiswe said, "We have all overcome the doubts and donated plasma many times. This action of yours is very important and saving someone's life is a big job. This feeling awakened in your mind should continue like this and there should be a big movement in society. This campaign should be implemented not only in urban areas but also in rural areas." He expressed the feeling that the giver should give and the receiver should take.

Plasma donors Ajay Munot, Rahul Langar, Vaibhav Bhakan and plasma acceptor Sandeep Sonawane also expressed their views and thanked the officials of Pune City Police Commissioner's Office for this initiative.

Introducing the program, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mitesh Ghatte said, "The Pune City Police Department has undertaken a good initiative called Plasma Therapy to overcome coronavirus. An appeal by Dr K Venkatesh has prompted 405 plasma donors to donate plasma. Every patient who recovers from the hospital needs to donate plasma with a helping hand. This can lead to a large movement of the plasma donors."

Assistant Inspector of Police, Prema Patil thanked the audience.

Police officers, staff, plasma donors and relatives of the patients who received plasma were present at the Pune City Police Commissionerate.
