Pune: While successfully completing the Mt Mera Expedition, which was organised by Pimpri-Chinchwad Mountaineering Club to support Giripremi’s Mt Kangchenjunga Eco Expedition 2019, the summiters have brought stones with them from different altitudes.

According to the summiters, this will help them for eco-expedition, as the stones will give an insight into the environment, ecology and many other factors. The stones will be tested by experts.

The expedition was completed under the leadership of Giripremi Mountaineering Institute. The expedition concluded successfully on October 27 at around 8 am local time. The summiters were Everesteer Krishna Dhokale, Dr Milind Khadilkar, Satish Burde, Shivaji Shinde and Abhijeet Londhe.

Dhokale, who was leading the expedition, said, “Mt Mera is a 6,470 metre high peak located in the Hinku Valley in Solokhumbu district in Nepal. We climbed the peak from the northern side in chilly winds and one of the lowest temperatures. This was a preparation expedition for the bigger and tougher challenge of Mt Kangchenjunga next year.”

“We have made this expedition successful. We spoke about eco-expedition to people we met during our trip to get support. We have also collected three stones from different altitudes while climbing the peak. The experts have guided us about it. The stones are collected from high altitude because these stones have various secrets to reveal as they are only available at high altitudes. These will be given to experts and they will be studying them,” Dhokale said.
