Pune: To address the issue of non-adherence to the Minimum Wages Act in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) industry, members of Forum of IT Employees (FITE) have raised the issue with Raghunath Kuchik, President of the Maharashtra Minimum Wages Committee.
Speaking about the issue, FITE President Pavanjit Mane, said that employees working in the industry are getting around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month, which is not sufficient to survive in Pune. “Some companies are paying less amount to their employees and hence, we thought of raising the issue.
Similarly, companies are also not paying standard amount for night shift allowance to these employees.
While some companies are paying Rs 300, others continue to pay Rs 150 and employees are unaware of the night shift allowance. Similarly, night shift should be on a rotational basis and not a permanent one and hence, we have raised these issues with President of the Maharashtra Minimum Wages Committee which is looking in to the issue.” added Mane.
Speaking about the salary standards in BPO and KPO industry and minimum wages, Mane said that the minimum wages in the industry are yet to be worked upon and they are waiting for a response
from Kuchik.
