
Pune, 12 July 2025: The Baner Police have successfully cracked down on a notorious gang involved in house burglaries in the area. In a major breakthrough, the police arrested five suspects and recovered stolen property worth ₹5.43 lakh, including over 80 grams of gold ornaments, two mobile phones, and a two-wheeler.
The robbery took place between June 7 and June 9 at a flat in Mukta Residency, Baner. Taking advantage of the owners being away, the accused broke the lock of the closed house and stole gold and silver ornaments along with cash, collectively valued at around ₹5.5 lakh. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Baner Police Station.
The investigation team, led by Baner Police, analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and successfully identified the suspects. Based on the footage and further technical inputs, police arrested Shahrukh Farukh Shaikh (21, resident of Pawarvasti, Dapodi), Gulfaan Nafees Ansari alias Shaikh (19, resident of Siddharth Nagar, Dapodi), and Arjun Ganpat Gaikwad (19, resident of Tarwad Vasti, Hadapsar).
The probe then extended to trace other gang members. Two more suspects, Sunny Gautam Khandagale (20) and Kartik Bhau Potphode (18), both residents of Talegaon Dabhade, were arrested from the same area, rounding off the entire gang involved in the Baner theft case.
This operation was executed under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant, with key efforts from Assistant Inspector K.B. Daberao, Sub-Inspector Sandesh Mane, and constables Baba Aher, Kisan Shinge, Appa Gaikwad, Sandesh Nikam, Atul Ingle, Gajanan Avatirak, Pradeep Kharat, Pritam Nikam, Sharad Raut, Vikas Bhore, and Rohit Pathroot.
