PIMPRI: Many parts of Pimpri Chinchwad were affected by the flood-like situation on the second day on Monday as the city continued to experience incessant rains and increased levels of rivers due to discharge of water from dams.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) shifted many flood-affected families and people to nearby civic body-run schools.

The municipal corporation also made food arrangements for these displaced people. Altogether 725 persons belonging to 184 affected families have been offered temporary shelter at the PCMC-run Ahilyadevi Holkar School. Besides, 360 people of 68 affected families have been shifted to Dr Allama Iqbal Urdu Primary School at Kasarwadi.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) jawans and fire brigade crew along with police personnel rescued a large number of people stranded in flood waters in different parts of the city on Sunday and Monday.

At many places, boats were used to reach out to the stranded persons. Despite continuous discharge of water from Pavana dam for the last two days, the dam had 95.53 per cent water storage at 6 pm on Monday.
