A foreign woman was arrested by the DRI Pune unit for possessing ₹7.63 crore worth of methamphetamine while traveling on a private bus from Delhi to Bengaluru.
Despite no initial suspicion during frisking, a hidden bag containing drug-laced salwar suits was found after a thorough inspection of the bus.
The drugs were ingeniously concealed in special compartments inside the suits, wrapped in paper strips, and identified as methamphetamine weighing 3.815 kg.
Pune, 18 July 2025: A foreign national has been arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Pune unit, after they seized methamphetamine worth approximately ₹7.63 crore from her possession. The woman was traveling on a private bus from Delhi to Bengaluru when the interception took place on the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway, in coordination with the Pune Customs department.
Acting on a tip-off, officials kept a close watch on the bus as it entered the Pune stretch. The woman was initially frisked, and her baggage was checked, but nothing suspicious was found. However, during a more thorough inspection of the bus, a hidden bag was discovered at the rear section.
Inside the bag were six salwar suits. Within these garments, drug-filled paper strips were cleverly tucked into specially designed compartments. The white, crystal-like substance wrapped in transparent covers tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 3.815 kg.
Following the seizure, the woman was taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities have confirmed that the estimated international market value of the contraband is ₹7.63 crore. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and destination of the drugs.
