Pune, 12th June 2025: To address the increasing civic issues in the Hinjewadi area, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase has directed all concerned administrative agencies to prioritize essential works that would bring immediate relief to citizens.

Waterlogging due to rainwater accumulation in Hinjewadi, Maan, Marunji, and surrounding areas has been causing significant inconvenience, especially to drivers. In response to these issues, a crucial meeting was convened at the PMRDA office under the leadership of Dr. Mhase.

The meeting witnessed participation from several key officials and stakeholders, including MLA Shankar Mandekar, PMRDA Development and Permission Department Director Sunil Marle, Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, Joint Commissioner of Land and Property Department Himmat Kharade, and Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi Patil.

Representatives from MIDC, MPCB, Pune ITCT Metro Rail Limited, Zilla Parishad, MSEDCL, PCMC, PWD, Hinjewadi Industrial Association, society office bearers, MSETCL, Traffic Police, and Sarpanchs of the local Gram Panchayats were also present.

The primary issue discussed was the blockage of water flow in streams and drainage channels, which is contributing to the flooding and water stagnation. Commissioner Mhase directed all departments to collectively clean these natural drainage paths and remove any road blockages without delay. He also emphasized that metro construction and other infrastructure activities must be completed within the stipulated timeline to avoid traffic disruption.

Dr. Mhase further instructed that strict action will be taken against anyone obstructing the natural flow of water. A survey must be conducted to identify constructions built around drainage channels, and a report should be submitted specifying whether these structures are authorized or unauthorized. Any unauthorized constructions are to be demolished without delay to restore normal water flow and civic order.

Additionally, it was noted that some companies are illegally discharging contaminated water into drains, causing further distress to the local residents. The Commissioner ordered an investigation into such companies.

If found in violation of government regulations or operating without proper authorization, action including disconnection of water and electricity supply should be enforced. All agencies have been instructed to coordinate and complete the assigned work by June 15 to ensure tangible improvement in the region.
