Global meet on high energy materials to be held in Pune

Pune: City-based High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), a laboratory of DRDO, will be hosting the three-day 11th High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibits (HEMCE-2017) from Thursday. 

The international conference will be inaugurated by Dr S Christopher, Chairman, DRDO & Secretary and Department of Defence R&D on November 23 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Pashan, Pune. 

'Emerging Trends in High Performance HEMs - Insensitivity and Green Energetic Materials' is going to be the the focal theme of HEMCE-2017. On the sidelines of the event, an exhibition will be held on HEMRL premises, which will provide a platform to Indian industries to showcase their products related to High Energy Materials (HEMs). More than 25 industries are participating in the conference. 

During the 3-day conference, delegates from all over the world will be deliberating upon the trends and roadmap of development in the areas of propellants, explosives and pyrotechnics. A total of 272 papers are being presented during the conference. 

Four Indians and two foreign nationals are being conferred with HEMSI Honorary Fellowship. 

The inaugural function of this biennial event will be addressed by V Udaya Bhaskar, Chairman, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Hyderabad, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and Director General (Missiles & Strategic Systems) at DRDO, PK Mehta, Director General (Armament & Combat Engineering), DRDO and KPS Murthy, Director, HEMRL and President, HEMSI. More than 500 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in HEMCE-2017.
