Pune: The active coronavirus cases count in the city and rural parts of the Pune district has been on the decline for the past ten consecutive days. Also, the COVID-19 graph is flattening its curve with The recovery rate of in the city has been refining reliably.

Keeping the same in the mind, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reviewed the number of containment zones in the city on Monday. There are now 33 containment zones after the administration removed 33 zones from the previous list and included new 11 zones in the list.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar on Monday announced the new containment zones depended on the situation in the city. Previously, the civic administration had concentrated containment zones from 71 to 59.

The zones now include one each in, Dhole-Patil, Bibewadi, Bhavani Peth, Warje-Karvenagar and Yerawada-Kalas-Dhanori. There are two zones in part of Sinhagad Road while three zones have been added in Kasba-Vishrambaugwada Kondhwa-Yeolewadi and Wanowrie-Ramtekdi. Kothrud-Bavdhan, Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar, Nagarroad-Vadgaonsheri has four zones while five are marked in Hadapsar-Mundhwa area.

According to the administration, the new zones will be closed and roads in the area will be barricaded to stop the free movement of traffic in and out of the zone.

Meanwhile, 294 new COVID-19 cases were reported in PMC limits on Monday whereas 505 people were discharged from various hospitals of the city. The total recoveries in Pune city now has gone to 1,44,432.
