Gopichand Padalkar needs psychiatric treatment, says NCP Women's State President

Pune: BJP’s Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Gopichand Padalkar compared Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar to the coronavirus at a press conference, generating raged protests from the NCP that has sought an unconditional apology from him and his party.

NCP has strongly objected and demanded that BJP Maharashtra state leaders need to apologise before masses and strict action to be taken against him.

Reacting on the same, NCP Women's State President Rupali Chakankar has said that Gopichand Padalkar, who criticised the National Congress Party (NCP) supremo and President Sharad Pawar in vulgar language, needs psychotherapy.

“Padalkar has shown his ideological level by criticising Sharad Pawar. He should keep in mind that Pawar's political career is as old as Padalkar's age. Padalkar has made this low-quality statement due to the confiscated deposit in Baramati and the frustration that came from it. Therefore, it seems that they need psychiatric treatment,” said Chakankar.

“Padalkar should follow the example of his supreme leader Narendra Modi. When Prime Minister Modi visits Baramati, he often praises Pawar's work and his leadership skills. BJP's rude culture has been espoused by Padalkar,” she added.

Meanwhile, Former Chief Minister of the state and Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis said remarks made by the Gopichand Padalkar on NCP chief Sharad Pawar are not appropriate but an emotional outburst.

"I had a word with Padalkar. I told him that though Pawar saheb is our political opponent he is not our enemy. I told him that forget Pawar Saheb, making such remarks against any senior leader is not appropriate,” Fadnavis said. Fadnavis said Padalkar had accepted that it was an emotional outburst against Pawar and will give a clarification.
