Pune, 28 October 2025: Automotive technology company Harman, a Samsung subsidiary, will invest ₹345 crore to expand its Chakan facility. With this, total investment since 2014 will reach ₹554 crore.

The project includes ₹45 crore immediately and ₹300 crore over three years. Capacity will rise by over 50%, enabling production of 4 million audio components, 1.4 million infotainment units, and 0.8 million telematics units annually. About 300 jobs will be added.

Harman said the move reinforces its commitment to India and Pune’s key role in connected car innovation, 5G telematics, and sustainable manufacturing.

The new 71,500 sq. ft. space includes a 45,000 sq. ft. floor with four SMT lines and will produce modules, speakers, and the Ready Connect telematics unit co-developed with Samsung.

The Ready Connect unit supports 4G/5G, cybersecurity, diagnostics, and cloud integration, improving safety through real-time network alerts.

The Pune plant serves Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and exports to Europe and North America. Harman India employs 5,000 people across engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions.

The facility also runs on solar power generating 317,000 kWh yearly, cutting 200 tonnes of CO₂, and aims for 100% renewable electricity by 2030. It has maintained a zero-injury record since inception.

The expansion strengthens India’s role in Harman’s global network spanning China, Hungary, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
