Pune, 2nd December 2025: In a major accident at Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park on Monday evening, a speeding bus carrying IT employees lost control and climbed onto the footpath, running over four pedestrians. Two school-going siblings, Archana Deva Prasad (8) and Suraj Deva Prasad (6), died on the spot.
Their elder sister, Priya Deva Prasad (16), and Avinash Haridas Chavan (26) suffered serious injuries. Another pedestrian, Vimal Raju Ozarkar (40), sustained minor injuries. All injured individuals were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were sent to the district hospital in Navi Sangvi for post-mortem.
Hinjawadi Police have detained the bus driver, Nagnath Rajabhau Gujar (36), a resident of Bhosari, for rash and negligent driving. The children were returning home from school when the accident occurred.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the alarming rise in road accidents in Pune’s IT belt. In recent months, multiple incidents have been reported where two-wheeler riders were fatally crushed under dumpers and other heavy vehicles. Monday’s accident has intensified public concern over safety in the area.
