The highly anticipated Maan Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar Metro, which has already missed two deadlines, is likely to miss its target date once more. Initially scheduled to start operations by March 31, 2026, the project is now experiencing additional setbacks due to unfinished automatic signalling work on the tracks. Crucial systems are still being installed.

The corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion in Hinjawadi, a major IT hub that experiences heavy daily traffic. Once operational, the metro will provide faster, safer, and more convenient travel for thousands of IT professionals and regular commuters.

Officials said the metro will be rolled out in phases, with only fully completed stations opening in the first stage. Once operational, the corridor is expected to significantly cut travel time between Hinjawadi and central areas such as Shivajinagar, marking a key boost for Pune’s urban mobility. The project is also likely to ease chronic traffic congestion in Hinjawadi, one of the city’s busiest IT hubs, offering faster and safer connectivity for thousands of professionals and daily commuters.
