How does Israel's coronavirus cure work

Pune: The day after the Israel government claimed that they have found a cure for COVID-19, Sakal Times tried to find out what exactly is the cure and how does it work?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
WN Gade, the Vice-president, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), threw more light of the anti-body therapy.

"It is not a new technique but certainly a very powerful one. Across the globe, the scientists and researchers were trying to find a cure for this pandemic, and thus therapies like plasma and others came forward," he said.

"But this particular anti-body therapy attacks the virus exactly. It is monoclonal anti-body which means that it goes into the cells and attacks the virus there. Other therapies work polycolon', added Gade.

Gopal Kundu, Director, R&D, KIIT said, "The technique used is monoclonal which is a single cell-based which neturalises the virus. It is unique. This will give better results."

Kundu also mentioned that the researchers at the Israel Institute of Biological Research have stuck upon this method. They haven't disclosed the technique, but it works on specific or single-cell as against the till known therapy of multi-epitopes to treat COVID-19 positive patients.

"It will work wonders against the severe COVID-19 patients", informed Kundu.

Gade also said, "With too much concentration of the anti-bodies, it works better against the virus. In plasma therapy, the anti-bodies might work or might not work. But here due to high concentration, it works, and thus the success rate is very high. It could be the best technology against the fight against the virus.

Kundu said, "The Israel researchers are thinking of patenting it and tying up with the pharma companies to work towards producing vaccine using this technology."

Meanwhile, Gade informed, "The researchers at IIBR has isolated the virus and thus could find the anti-bodies."

WHAT IS ISRAEL'S TECHNOLOGY?
Israel's Defence minister Naftali Bennett in a statement had said: "The monoclonal neutralising anti-body was developed at the Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) which neutralises the disease-causing coronavirus inside carriers' bodies."

Meanwhile, Italy also claimed to have found the cure. Several media reported that Italian medical firm has claimed to have found a vaccine that neutralises the coronavirus in human cells. It also has claimed to have conducted trials on mice.
