If the Maratha community receives reservation for OBC, we will protest on the streets: Sangharsh Sena

Pune: The Other Backward Class (OBC) Sangharsh Sena has warned that if a reservation is given to the Maratha community for the OBC community, the OBC community in the Maharashtra state will agitate on street. The decision will be taken after the Maharashtra state government clarifies its role in this regard. It has also been clarified that five per cent reservation should be given to the Maratha community by subtracting the reservation of economic backwardness of the Central Government.

OBC Sangharsh Sena President Laxman Hake clarified their stand on reservation at a press conference on Thursday. The Vice President of Bara Balutedar Mahasangh Pratap Gurav, Yava State President Vishal Jadhav, Ramdas Suryavanshi, Ananda Kudale, Suresh Gaikwad etc. were present on this occasion.

Speaking to Sakal Times, Hake said, "The demand of Maratha leaders is to give five per cent reservation to the Maratha community from OBCs. MP Amol Kolhe also said that OBCs should make up their minds. Kolhe should first study the ground reality and make his statement. We will not allow OBC reservations to be minimised."

He further pointed out that, "The former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrongly appointed the Backward Classes Commission. The Commission did not act in accordance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court. The court has stayed the reservation given to the Maratha community on the bogus report of the commission. Also, the social backwardness of the Maratha community has been denied. The Maratha community's demand for reservation from OBCs does not suit their image. Reservation is not to eradicate poverty but to eradicate educational and social backwardness. Therefore, if a reservation is taken from OBCs, 52 per cent OBCs in the state will boycott the polls. There will be agitation on the streets." explained Hake.

The current Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a giver to the people. The present Chhatrapati is taking from us. It is wrong to ask reservation for Maratha community from OBC. Some are losing patience with reservations. The wrong language is being used about OBCs," pointed Pratap Gurav.
