Weather experts have linked the recent weather variations to two active systems: Cyclone Montha developing over the Bay of Bengal and a depression in the Arabian Sea. The cyclone is expected to strengthen and reach the coast near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, by Tuesday evening. These systems together have created a cloud trough, resulting in unstable weather across Maharashtra, including Pune.

Throughout Monday, Pune’s skies remained overcast, and by evening, light rain began falling across parts of the city and suburbs. While the showers cooled the air slightly, daytime temperatures still reached around 31°C, with minimum temperatures recorded at 21.7°C.

The IMD forecast suggests that maximum temperatures will remain steady on Tuesday and may rise slightly from Wednesday onward. Skies are expected to stay generally cloudy, with the likelihood of thunder and lightning during the afternoon and evening hours.
