
Pune: The five-day international teacher training programme, organised by the English Language Teaching Institute of Symbiosis (ELTIS), started on Monday. The programme will continue till August 10 at ELTIS in Model Colony.
The programme was inaugurated by Bhama Venkataramani, Dean of Academics and Administration at Symbiosis International (Deemed) University (SIU). Deepesh Chandrasekharan, Executive Director of CLIL@India Project, Gunta Rozina from the University of Latvia, Sangeeta Pant of Chitkara University, Helena Aikin of Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Prof Shirish Sahasrabudhe, Director of ELTIS-SIFIL, Vaishali Jundre, Project Coordinator of CLIL@India for SIU and Dy Director of ELTIS-SIFIL
Symbiosis is one of the seven partner universities in this Erasmus+ co-funded project called CLIL@India. It promotes a new teaching methodology namely ‘Content and Language Integrated Learning.’
The programme has received an overwhelming response from schools in and around Pune. Teachers from 15 schools have registered. Resource persons from the partner universities from Spain and Latvia along with those from Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Symbiosis, Pune, will train these in-service teachers here.
A few of the sessions to be covered over these five days include Multilingual Education in India: The three Language formula and the educational Context in India, Ethnographic and interactional approaches to CLIL research, active learning strategies with respect to Indian classroom perspective and many more.
