Pune, 14 November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation has proposed a major revision in ticket prices at the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in Katraj. The proposal, placed before the Standing Committee, suggests increasing the entry fee by nearly twice, marking the first hike since 2018.
According to officials, the zoo's expenses have risen sharply due to ongoing maintenance work, repairs, new animal enclosures, and the addition of rare species. The cost of animal feed, treatment, and construction of new moats and exhibits has also gone up. During a recent visit by the Municipal Commissioner, the need for a ticket revision was highlighted, following which the administration finalized the proposal.
The civic body claims that ticket prices in Pune are still lower compared to several other zoos in the country. They argue that the revised rates will boost revenue and help make the Katraj Zoo more self-sustaining while supporting its expansion plans.
The proposal includes an increase only in entry fees and battery-operated vehicle charges. Fees for filming and guide services will remain unchanged.
Under the new proposal, adult entry tickets may go up from ₹40 to ₹60, while children’s tickets may rise from ₹10 to ₹20. For foreign nationals, the fee would increase from ₹100 to ₹150.
Students from private schools may see their rates double from ₹10 to ₹20, while those from government schools may pay ₹10 instead of ₹5. Battery-operated vehicle charges may also be revised, with adult tickets rising from ₹40 to ₹50 and children’s tickets from ₹25 to ₹30.
