The investigation into the murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal has gathered pace, with police arresting the two accused, Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary. As part of the probe, the duo were taken to the crime scene at Lohagad Fort, where police recreated the sequence of events leading to the alleged murder.
Investigators brought Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort to reconstruct how the crime was allegedly carried out. Police examined the sequence of events and the manner in which Ketan Agarwal was allegedly pushed into a gorge near Hatti Talav (Elephant Lake) on the fort premises.
According to sources, Siya Goyal made a startling statement during questioning, allegedly telling investigators that "killing Ketan seemed easier than calling off the wedding."
The purported admission has given the investigation a new direction, with police now verifying various aspects of the case and the circumstances that led to the alleged murder.
According to investigators, Siya allegedly believed that calling off the wedding, which was scheduled for November, would hurt both families. Police claim that she therefore chose to eliminate her fiancé rather than cancel the marriage.
Investigators allege that Siya, who reportedly did not want to marry Ketan Agarwal, conspired with her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary to carry out the murder. As per the police's findings so far, the two allegedly lured Ketan to Lohagad Fort and pushed him into the gorge near Hatti Talav, leading to his death.
The Pune Rural Police are continuing their investigation from multiple angles. Through the interrogation of the accused, examination of the crime scene and the reconstruction of events, investigators are attempting to piece together every detail of the alleged murder as the probe progresses.
