Pune, 12th June 2025: In Kharadi, the Road Department of the Municipal Corporation gave permission to dig the main road and footpath between Thopte Chowk and Reliance Chowk to lay underground cables. After digging, the contractor laid the cable but left the road open for over a month. This has created a long trench on the road, causing accidents, especially to two-wheeler riders.

Another stretch of road from Mundhwa River Bridge to Reliance Mall was also dug for about two kilometers long and five feet wide. But after the cable was laid, the contractor did not properly fill the trench. In many places, deep potholes have formed, making it very risky for vehicles to pass.

Because of the bad condition of the road, traffic has slowed down and congestion has increased. Loose soil and uneven surfaces are causing big problems, especially for two-wheeler riders. Even after these issues, the Road Department has not taken any steps to fix the situation.

Citizens are demanding that the contractor complete the road work immediately. They also want the Road Department to take responsibility for any serious accidents caused by this negligence.

Even now, the road between Kharadi Bypass and Gundhwa River Bridge, about three kilometers long, is covered in mud and stone. The contractor has been missing for the past two months, leaving the work unfinished.
