Kirkatwadi and Nanded Phata residents facing problems

PUNE: It has been several months that a stretch of the Sinhagad Road is being constructed between Kirkatwadi and Nanded Phata. This has been causing problems for the local people while commuting on this stretch.

The construction of the road started in October 2018. The 11 km stretch is being concretised. The construction was stopped before the monsoon. However, it has still not resumed. Sandip Hagawane, a resident of the area, said, “The road is under construction for over a year now. They have completely stopped the work due to some dispute between the contractors. There is no signage to alert commuters that this road is under construction. This has caused several accidents.”

Some local residents of Kirkatwadi said that the road was already in a very bad condition. Later, it was dug up by PWD. However, the work was not completed, due to which there is always dust in this area. This is not only a hazard for commuters but also for roadside vegetables and fruits vendors and customers visiting them. An official from the Public Works Department (PWD) told Sakal Times, “The work is not stopped but going at slow pace as we are completing work of other road.”
