KVIFF is a joint initiative of Kirloskar and Vasundhara Club in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University and other 55 organisations along with 50 colleges. The theme for this year is 'River Pollution'. The organisers have shortlisted 155 films from 1,200 film entries from 28 countries. In the backdrop of this festival, Eco-bazaar will be arranged to display and sell recycled and eco-friendly products.

Virendra Chitrav, Festival Director, said, “Through various workshops, seminars and panel discussions, the KVIFF aims at creating large scale awareness on the river polluting issue and how individual actions can decrease the problem. We are starting the film festival from Pune and then we will be going through 30 cities from seven states of India. Along with this, we are going to honour seven personalities or organisation for their significant contribution in the field of nature conservation. We will be felicitating Veteran Wildlife Conservationist Maruti Chitampalli with Kirloskar Vasundhara Lifetime Achievement Award.”
