Pune, 19 December 2025: A leopard was spotted on the premises of a residential society in Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa, yet another sighting in Pune amid growing concerns over wildlife movement inside the city. The animal was captured on CCTV footage during the early hours of Thursday, which was later shared with the Forest Department and verified.
Following confirmation, Forest Department teams launched a search operation in and around Keshav Nagar. Officials are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby residential societies to trace the leopard’s movement. Trap cameras have been installed near a nearby nala with dense vegetation, which is suspected to be a possible corridor used by the animal.
An officer said that a thermal drone was deployed on Thursday evening to assist the search. Awareness drives have been conducted to alert local residents and advise them on safety measures. Night patrolling will begin in Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa and surrounding areas, with special teams formed to monitor the situation closely.
Over the past month, multiple leopard sightings have been reported from several parts of Pune, including Pune Airport, Aundh, Bavdhan and Pashan-Sutarwadi. Among these incidents, one leopard was captured by the Forest Department about a week ago. Authorities have urged citizens to stay calm and cooperate with officials as efforts continue to track and safely capture the animal.
