Linguistic email service catching up

Pune: A four-fold rise in the number of users of linguistic email service ‘Datamail’ in last one year clearly reflects the comfort of people using their language in email communication. This information was shared by Ajay Data, Founder and CEO, Data Xgen Technologies which has created Datamail. Ajay was speaking to Sakal Times on completion of two years of the mail service which was launched in October 2016.

Ajay said that in the last two years, the company has added four lakh users. After the launch, Datamail was catering to its users in English, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Telugu, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Tamil languages. Later the company started its services in other languages including Chinese, Russian, Sinhala, Thai, Korean, Arabic and French.

“We will continue to provide our service in different languages. In March, we will be starting the service in Japanese language. It all depends on the need of people. We can expand our services in all languages but we take a call based on the demand from people,” added Ajay.

With a 40 per cent share, English users and 28 per cent share, Hindi language users continue to dominate. Other language users like Telugu, Punjabi and Chinese are increasing.

Speaking on the growth of the mail service, Ajay thanked all the users. “We are happy that we have been successful in adding business value to our users. Linguistic revolution is the ‘New Internet Revolution.’ Regional languages are the key to increasing Internet penetration,” said Ajay.

“As we see a surge in the availability of regional content on the Internet, availability of linguistic email will further empower the non-English speaking population in India and globally,” said Ajay. He plans to add another 10 regional languages to the Datamail app and expects growth to 2 million users by 2019.
