Pune: The MahaMetro will soon be submitting the detail project report (DPR) of the Katraj-Swargate and Nashik Phata-Chakan extension of the metro route. Officials of MahaMetro said that they are in process of taking the suggestions and objections on the proposed extension route of the metro. Speaking about the DPR, MahaMetro MD Brijesh Dixit said that the DPR of Pimpri-Nigdi has already been submitted to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the DPR for Katraj-Swargate and Nahisk Phata-Chakan will be submitted by the end of March.
“While we have different options for alignment of metro we will choose the one which assures good ridership. We select the alignment based on a cost-benefit analysis,” added Dixit. The managing director said that the agency is trying their best to begin the metro service by December 2019 as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We will try to start the Pimpri-Dapodi and Vanaaz-Garware stretch by December 2019,” added Dixit.
He said that the tender of Vannaz depot is finalised and will be awarded soon.
“The depot will have a state of the art facility and a commercial centre of 7 lakh square feet,” added Dixit.
Speaking about the safety measures implemented at site, Dixit said that a third party agency will check for the safety measures at the site.”
The collapse of the rig at Nashik Phata was due to a human error and the agency has been fined an amount of Rs 5 lakh.
“The crane operator started the operation on his own without the supervision of the supervisor. We have modified our standard operating procedures for better safety measures,” added Dixit.
